SOUTHAMPTON V NORWICH CITY PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS AND FACTS

Southampton are just outside the relegation zone in 17^th place with 11 points from 13 matches.  They’ve won 3, drawn 2, lost 8 and have scored 1.54 goals per game but unfortunately conceded 2.3 goals per game.  Their recent form is improving with back to back wins in their last two matches which has brought them out the relegation zone.

Norwich are 13^th in the table with 15 points from 13 games, winning 3, drawing 6 and losing 4.  They have scored just 0.77 goals per game and conceded 1.46 for a total goal difference of -9.  Their recent form has been excellent with 2 wins and 3 draws in their past 5 games including a huge win against Manchester United.

TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

Southampton were always going to struggle this season with their Championship quality defence going up against these Premiership attacking line-ups and they have by far the worst defensive record in the league with 30 goals conceded already.  They have instead focused on trying to outscore opponents and have a very credible 20 goals this season so far, more than anyone else in the bottom half.  It is a risky strategy as they will end up with some big defeats which can sap morale but they also give themselves a chance to win games that most other teams around them would only draw.

Norwich took time to settle under new manager Chris Hughton but now are looking like a very strong side and have not lost in 6 games.  They are still struggling somewhat to score goals but their defence is organised and conceding very few goals.

Southampton are favourites here which I think is deserving when you look at their home form.  They have won 2, drawn 2 and lost just once, to Tottenham, in their past 5 home games.  Norwich are vastly improved but are still yet to win away with 3 straight draws.
