Southampton (7-6-7) have dropped to ninth in the table after a nine game run of just one win, six defeats and two draws. They have played many of the better sides in this period though, and have still played well in the majority of these games. West Brom (4-9-7) have appointed a new coach in Pepe Mel, although he will not take charge until after this match. The Baggies last six league games have seen just one win, three draws and two defeats. They have drawn more games than any other team in the division, and need to improve the win rate to stave off the threat of relegation. Osvaldo(str) is suspended for the Saints.
