Southampton were rocked by the news of resignation of Chairman Nicola Cortese. However it came to light that the resignation never went through but in times like this there is usually no smoke without fire; Southampton have had a tough run of late but have picked up a little over last few games. A run of injuries really impacted the side and they do not have a deep squad. They are in 9^th with 8 wins, 6 draws and 7 defeats. They have conceded a few recently and have lost their best defence record. Recent form has seen 3 wins and 3 defeats. Out for Southampton are Wanyama and Osvaldo but they are back up to full strength elsewhere. Sunderland have really picked up of late, moving off bottom spot and are now just 1 point off safety. Overall form reads 4 wins, 5 draws and 12 losses. Recent form shows three consecutive wins, including a 2-1 over Man Utd. Out for Sunderland are at full strength for this game.

A close game this one and for me a lot closer than the odds suggest. Sure Southampton have played well this season and have a big points gap over hosts Sunderland (13 points) but recent play from both sides for me means this is very close. Southampton are big favourites at Stadium of Light so for me Sunderland are great value to make it 4 wins on the bounce. Odds should be nearer to 6-4 (2.50) both teams so 21-10 (3.10) is great value.
