Swansea are 9^th in the table with 37 points from 27 matches which has them finishing comfortably top half.  They are high in confidence after a resounding 5-0 win in the Carling Cup final against Bradford giving Swansea their first ever trophy.  It really has been a miraculous turn around for the club who just 5 years ago were in the 3^rd tier of English football and have quickly established themselves as a strong Premiership team.

Newcastle are 13^th in the table with 30 points from 27 matches which leaves them 6 points clear of relegation.  A strong run this month with 3 wins in 5 matches has seen Newcastle move up the table after a brief flirt with the relegation fight due in part to a small squad and the worst injury record in the league.  Strong signings in January and players regaining fitness has seen them find some of the form that led them to an excellent 5^th place last season.
