West Ham is 3-0-2 against Tottenham in this London derby game since and including 2012. They’ve done some good business this transfer window with Enner Valencia (FW) who shone for Ecuador at the World Cup and comes in with a very strong season behind him in Pachuca (Mexican league), Diafra Sakho (FW) who is a brilliant striker who has been key to Metz returning to Ligue 1, Zarate (well known from his days at Inter and Lazio), Jenkinson (was on the fringes of the Arsenal squad last season), Kouyate (12 Champions League games for Anderlecht) and Cresswell all looking interesting. Joe Cole is the most notable sale. Nocerino (MF) has gone back to AC Milan after his loan stay.
They’ll miss FW Carroll and AM Jarvis here due to injury though. Valencia hasn’t played for them yet, but it is quite likely he will play part here in some capacity at least.
Tottenham Hotspurs come with their new manager Pochettino who is likened to “El Loca” Bielsa by many. He hasn’t made much of a splash this transfer window after Spurs burning 100m last summer on mediocre players. However, he has brought in Vorm (GK) and Davies (LB) from Swansea. Gylfi Sigurdsson (AM) who scored five goals for them has left. Jan Vertonghen (CB) is ruled out. Walker (Fullback) is a 50/50 doubt.
It is worth noticing both sides played Schalke 04 in preseason. West Ham drew them 0-0 in Gelsenkirchen while Spurs won 2-1 at home in their last game before EPL kickoff.
Betting tips
My take on this is West Ham +0.5 at 1.85 with BET365 is worthy of a punt. Spurs has a better coach probably, the squad is good, but not really great. West Ham for me has improved, and we know that under Allardyce they will fight until the last drop of blood is spilled. With Zarate and probably also Valencia available I think they won’t miss Carroll and Jarvis so much either.
