ROUEN V MARSEILLE PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS AND FACTS

In the last round, Rouen got rid of Ajaccio after penalties in a 1-1 game. That was a surprise as there was a two divisions gap between them. Rouen is playing in National (3^rd division) where they are 13^th out of 20 with a 8-3-8 record. They will have to face a much better team in this Last 32 round.

Marseille are doing very good in Ligue 1. Barton’s teammates are in 3^rd position, just three points away from the first two teams. In the last round, they won at home 2-1 in extra-time, over Guingamp (Ligue 2). This team is showing, week after week that they have a mental and solidarity which are above the average. Their last week’s win 3-2 over Montpellier with a 90^th minute goal from Gignac  was the latest example, even though it was their turn to concede a late goal in the last fixture (2-2 in Rennes).

Since the beginning of November, Rouen are doing very well. They won 8 of their last 10 games, losing two when they were playing away. But the recent history is not very important when a 3^rd division team is facing one of the biggest French team. Rouen’s players are going to play the most exciting game of their life and they will have to bring their game to another level.

Marseille are traditionally doing well in cups. Elie Baup is not expected to change his usual team a lot and Marseille is taking this cup seriously so even though there is not much value, I will back Marseille at 1.64 with Betfair.
