ST-ETIENNE V LORIENT PREDICTIONS    

This week will be very busy for the home side. After this Coupe de France’s quarterfinals, they will play the Coupe de la Ligue’s final on Saturday, against Rennes. Even though the best way to prepare this final is to beat Lorient, they will obviously have their mind turned to Saturday as this historical club didn’t play any final in the last 33 years.

St-Etienne hasn’t lost a single game in 2013, however they have slowed down recently with 4 draws in the last 5 games. They are standing in 4^th position in Ligue 1, right in the middle of the podium fight. This squad has a lot of young talent, but might also lack some experience to cope with the pressure.

Lorient is in 8^th position of Ligue 1 and it seems unlikely that they will manage to get a European ticket this season. That’s an even higher motivation for this team to try and win that Coupe de France. But Lorient has had big problems when playing away recently (2 draws and 4 losses in the last 6, including a heavy 5-0 in Lille in the last one).

St-Etienne’s striker Brandao is back in the group for this game after his suspension. The coach left Loic Perrin (captain), Brison and Clerc on the side, so they can rest for Saturday. It shows where their priority is.
