Lille v Lorient predictions and betting tips

Lille had a brief spell at the very top of Ligue 1 a few years back. The club has however found it hard to hold onto their top team status. Last season Lille finished nine points ahead of Lorient, a side that has found Ligue 1 success hard to come by.

Lille 2013/2014 predictions

Lille has won all their preseason matches, but the opposition hasn’t exactly been stellar. They’ve also lost left back sensation Digne. The very skillful attacking midfielder Payet is gone too. Chedjou was a rock in the center of the Lille defense, but he has opted out as well. Lille has been shopping a bit too. Kjær, who is a very capable Central Defender has come in. Meite is a young and talented Midfielder, while 20 year old Thauvin can possible resume where Payet left as an Attacking midfielder. If he doesn’t do well, Diaby who is brought in from Sedan might be able to. Ruiz is also a very interesting young striker that has come in.

To me Lille looks slightly weaker than last season. The players they lost are top notch, and even though I like the shrewd buys they’ve made I think it will take some time before we see the best possible football from this side.

Lorient 2013/2014 predictions

Lorient has had a mixed bag of preseason results against French opposition. They have lost their very versatile midfielder Corgnet, and I can’t see they’ve found a fitting replacement as of yet. They’ve brought in the promising youngster Guerreiro (Defender) though. He is just 19, so I doubt we’ll see him dominate next season!

In the five last season’s Lorient has been 8-17-11-7-10 (AVG 10.6 place). My call is they’ll be outside of the top ten and possibly even might find themselves in the midst of a relegation fight.
