Monaco have started the season well and have three wins and one draw so far. Before this round they were top of the league and as PSG and Saint Etienne won their matches this round Monaco need a win here to retake the top spot. They started the season by beating Bordeaux 2-0 away, then followed it up with 4-1 at home to Montpellier. The third match at home against Toulouse saw a disappointing 0-0 draw, but last match they got an important win 2-1 away to top three rival Marseille.

Lorient are in 10th place with two wins and two losses. The two wins came both at home, 2-1 against Nantes and 1-0 against Valenciennes, while they lost 1-0 away to Lille and 2-0 away to Guingamp.

Last time Monaco hosted Lorient was in 2011 and they won 3-1. Last six encounters ended with Monaco winning twice, Lorient winning once, and there were three ties. But Monaco have as we know spent a lot on new signings so old results are not that relevant.
