Monaco heads into this Ligue 1 six-pointer with one goal; win it! If they lose here they will be 8 points behind PSG. Catching the Parisians would be next to impossible. At home Monaco is 8-2-1 so far this season and their form is decent with 4-1-1 both in total, and at home in the last six matches. Monaco is still without Falcao, an obvious loss up front. Monaco has more to offer going forward than Falcao though. Riviere, has chipped in with a fair share of goals, and the midfield knows where the goal stands too. They've also brought in Berbatov. The experienced striker could come good in a team with so many good players around him.
PSG sits pretty on top of Ligue 1, five points ahead of Monaco. They're 7-3-1 away from home, having lost only to Evian in early December. Form wise they are 3-2-1 both home and away. Here Cavani (World class striker), Rabiot (Young central midfielder on the fringes of the starting eleven) and Jallet (Right back who can also play on the wing) sits out. Cabaye, the new recruit from Newcastle was used as a sub against Bordeaux, and he could feature from start here.
Betting Tips
The reverse fixture ended 1-1. It was a close contest indeed. I do not see this one being any different. There isn't that much between the teams. Both sides miss a star man up front. I do rate PSG as the better team of the two, simply becuase they've got more experience as a team in big matches like this. Here PSG can play for the result here and hit Monaco on the counter. I expect Monaco to have more of the ball, and the question is if they can break down a mega solid PSG, especially without conceeding goals themselves. Those are big question marks. That said; should PSG score first Monaco can definitely get back into it with the creativity and flair they have in their ranks. I think this very easily can become cagey.
PSG is made the favorite here. Against a side tha't 8-2-1 at home you do not expect to see odds of 2.15-2.35 on the away side do you? Those odds are really not useful. The question then is which odds is better of Monaco or the draw. I personally go for 3.30 on the draw available at Ladbrokes. Mainly because I think Falcao sitting out hurts Monaco more than Cavani sitting out for PSG and because PSG can play on the result here. When PSG parks the bus it is very hard to get through on goal. Goals can open up this tie, but things can very quickly get cagey.
