Ligue 1 continues with the second round match between PSG and Ajaccio. PSG are expected to fight for the league title against major rivals Monaco, and are considered the favourites by many. Ajaccio, on the other hand, are expected to remain in the bottom half of the table same as last season, fighting against relegation.

PSG started the season with an away match against Montpellier. Montpellier got an early goal and PSG kept chasing the equalizer, Maxwell finally scoring in the 60th minute. However, PSG were not able to score the winning goal, despite dominating with 70% possession and Montpellier reduced to ten men from the 72nd minute. Montpellier defended well, and PSG were not effective enough in converting possession into clear scoring chances.

Ajaccio lost their first match at home 0-1 against Saint Etienne. They had seven attempts (and only one on target) and 48% possession, overall a disappointing opening match of the season.

PSG are heading into this match with few injury concerns and will no doubt field a very strong team. Menez and Motta are out with injury, but with such a big squad this is not weakening the team. For Ajaccio there are no new injury concerns, however, Benjamin Andre (playing right back in the first match) is out due to red card.

However, PSG were poor at finishing and only produced three shots on targets. Ajaccio were not any better with only three attempts and one shot on target. PSG’s Motta got a red card in the 45th minute of the match, and this of course affected the run of play. Ajaccio’s two best players were the man of the match and central defender Maire, and goalkeeper Ochoa. For PSG right midfielder Moura and central defender Alex gave solid performances. Overall, the last four matches have ended in two wins for PSG and two draws.
