It is title holder versus newly promoted team in this fourth round match in the French Ligue 1 when Paris Saint Germain are hosting Guingamp. The expectations for these two teams this season could hardly be any more different, PSG are the favourites to win while Guingamp are likely to fight hard to avoid relegation. But so far the difference in the league position is not that big, PSG are in 8th place with W1 D2 L0 and Guingamp in 14th with W1 D0 L2.

PSG started their season in slow fashion and tied the first two matches 1-1, first away to Montpellier and then at home to Ajaccio. However, they got back to winning in their last match and beat Nantes 2-1 away. PSG had 63% possession, 14 attempts and 6 shots on target (Nantes 13 attempts and 3 on target). The goals were scored by Cavani (24’) and Lavezzi (73’), while Nantes got the goal due to Alex scoring an own goal. Man of the match was forward Ibrahimovic that provided the assist to the first goal.

Guingamp did not have an easy start to their season as they hosted Marseille in the season opener. They lost this match 3-1 and then also lost the second match 1-0 away to Saint Etienne. Last match was a boost to their confidence, however, as they won 2-0 at home to Lorient. Stats show that Lorient had the most possession (52%) and won attempts and shots on target (11-10 and 5-3), but Guingamp were effective in creating scoring opportunities from the flanks. Guingamp also had the highest ranked players in that match, the man of the match was left defender Lemaitre, plus forward Yatabare and right midfielder Beauvue among other made solid performances. Yatabare scored both goals, first after 16 minutes and second after 48 minutes.
