Those teams are having a pretty similar start this season. Aiming for the top 6 and a European ticket for next season, they are struggling to really kick off this year. Rennes is currently 11^th, with a 3-1-4 record, giving them 10 points. Montpellier has two points less and is standing on the 16^th position, just two points ahead of the relegation zone. Rennes won twice and drew twice when playing home, and Montpellier managed to get 6 of their 8 points when they were away.

TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

After a terrible start with 4 losses in 5 games, Rennes seems to be doing better now, staying on two winnings before the International break, including a nice 2-0 home one, facing Lille. Their two strikers, Pitroipa and Erding have a lot of confidence, and the new signing, the promising Alessandrini is convincing everyone that he was ready to make it in the top league.

Montpellier has some big issues, both in the game, and also out of the pitch. Except their two good games in Champion’s League, they are being very disappointing. Their president made it public several times that most of his players were thinking only about themselves and their wage. They lost the last game 3-2 against Evian before the break, although they were playing home.

Logically, Rennes is seen as favorite in that game, and if you want to back them, you will get an odd of 2.3 with William Hill. It is really hard to guess what is going to happen in this game, as both teams have shown the best and the worst this year. But considering the decent away record of Montpellier with this odd, I think this is where the value is at 3.81.
