AALEN – GREUTHER FURTH: PREDICTIONS

Gameday two of German Bundesliga 2 sees Aalen host Greuther Furth.

Aalen of Baden-Wuttermburg have generally flirted around tier 3 of Germany’s huge pyramid system, until 2011. After a tremendous effort they finished as runners up in league 3 and gained promotion for the 1^st time in their history to Bundesliga 2. They finished a creditable 9^th last year and will look to consolidate again this year.  Aalen are not expected to do well however with only two teams below them in the outright betting. The 1^st game was a 0-0 draw away to relegation favourite Sandhausen which is not a great start.

Greuther Furth of Bavaria are an example to all teams in the lower reaches of German football. A mainstay of the lower leagues they finally gained promotion to Bundesliga 2. After a host of near misses they finally gained promotion in 2012 and a Bundesliga 2 title to go with it. Previously they had been incredibly consistent, actually finishing 5^th in the 2^nd league a remarkable 7 times from 13 consecutive years. Serbian striker Ognjen Mudrinski arrives at the club and could go straight into the side.

This game looks an away win for Greuther Furth as I think Aalen may struggle this season. The odds seem a little short on the away side though the prices as low as 1.90 on the visitors. I look at alternative markets and think the goals markets could be the best options. Aalen are inferior for sure and may look to try and contain Greuther. The visitors will be looking to snatch a goal but they do look quite solid so Under 2.5 (1.75 bet365) looks a better option than the straight up win. A low scoring win for the away side looks good for me.
