Augsburg v Stuttgart predictions & betting tips

Augsburg has started with with two defeats and hasn’t scored in the 2013/2014 edition of the Bundesliga yet. New on the injury list is the offensive Bobadilla who came on against Bremen last week. His creativity would have been good to have here. Bance, another attacking player is still injured. Against Bremen last week Augsburg was unlucky to not get something out of the game. Werder scored early and let Augsburg have plenty of the ball. Augsburg did create chances and at least deserved a point in my opinion.

Stuttgart was unlucky in their season opener away to Mainz when they lost 3-2. Last week they lost 0-1 at home against Leverkusen in a fairly tight battle. Stuttgart has no new injury worries, but regular defenders Niedermeier and Tasci as well as new recruit Rojas (Attacking Midfielder) sit out still.

Since and including 2011 Stuttgart has won 3 out of 4 matches between the two. However, last season Augsburg won 3-0 at home, and they weren’t outplayed by any measure in the reverse fixture which they lost 2-1. Augsburg created a lot in the home game and won deservedly. Stuttgart played a subpar game making lots of costly mistakes and was poor when it came to finishing.

I think this is going to be a fairly close match, but Augsburg got to be favorites at home. They were decent both home and away against Stuttgart last season, and I can’t see why they shouldn’t be able to perform well again here. Especially against a weakened Stuttgart defense!

I spent some time thinking if I should go for a straight win on the 1x2 or look at the draw no bet Asian handicap option. I ended up with the 1x2 as it looks like a high scoring match, which reduces the chance of a draw. My betting tip is Augsburg on the 1x2.
