BAYER LEVERKUSEN V BAYERN MUNICH PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS AND FACTS

The clash of the week in Germany sees Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich travel to take on 3^rd place Bayer Leverkusen in a game between two of the league’s top sides.

Leverkusen have 45 points from 25 matches which puts them just 1 point off second place Dortmund and they have a 6 point lead over 4^th place Schalke.  A Champions League appearance is looking very likely next season but they will have aspirations of finishing 2^nd, especially with Dortmund still concentrating on the Champions League.  Leverkusen’s recent form has been mixed with 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat in their last 5 games, with both wins coming at home.

Bayern are runaway leaders in the Bundesliga with 66 points from 25 games which gives them a 20 point gap over 2^nd place.  They had a scare midweek in the Champions League when Arsenal travelled to Munich and defeated a sluggish Bayern side 2-0.  Luckily Bayern qualified for the next round on away goals but they were certainly rattled and were holding on towards the end.  They will hope to get back to their league form which has seen 8 straight wins.

Bayern are strong favourites here as they are for every domestic match but I think the Arsenal game could have affected them.  They are not used to losing at home and were really struggling to hang on near the end.  Add the extra 4 days rest and preparation for Leverkusen who had no midweek game and I think they have a real chance of getting something from the match.

Despite being the home side Leverkusen are still a mammoth 5.0 to win and I’ll be taking a small bet on that with bet365.
