Borussia Monchengladbach started the season with six consecutive losses, including one in Champions League. Last week, after coach Rene Favre left the club, they turned the trend around a bit, and beat Augsburg 4-2 at home and then Stuttgart 3-1 away. So the stats are now 2-0-5, which means six points and a 14th position, and a goal difference of 9-15. Earlier this midweek they played another Champions League match, and lost 1-2 at home against Manchester City (Stindl opened the score sheet for them, but City got the winning goal on a penalty in the 90th minute). Overall Gladbach had deserved better in that match, and they did for instance miss a penalty, but at least their form seems to be improving a bit. Martin Stranzl, central defender and captain, is still unavailable due to injury, and the regular goalie Yann Sommer has recently been injured. Tony Jantschke is doubtful for today’s match.

Wolfsburg is in fourth place with 12 points. They have 3-3-1 and a goal difference of 10-8. Their only loss came against Bayern Munich, a match they lost 5-1 after five goals by substitute Lewandowski. They also lost away to Manchester United earlier this week in the Champions League, and only managed a disappointing draw at home to Hannover last weekend. So their form could be better, as they have two losses and one draw in last three matches. On away field you have to look back to May last season to find their last away win, then they beat the relegated team Paderborn 3-1. Their defender Robin Knoche is still injured and has yet to play a match this season. Some other players are also out: Sprenger, Stolze, Zawada and Lopes. The important defensive midfielder Luiz Gustavo is doubtful, while defender Vieirinha could be back in action.

Borussia Monchengladbach has shown some improvement lately, and even though Wolfsburg is a very solid team, an improving Gladbach is not easy to beat. My bet is therefore Borussia Monchengladbach Draw no bet, odds 1/1 (2.0) with Bet365.
