Cologne has ten points after six matches, and lost deservedly to Hertha Berlin in the previous match. Three of the six matches have ended with fewer than 2.5 goals. It is still very early in the season, but the trend so far is that Cologne is struggling on away field. At home they have 2-1-0, and one of these was over 2.5 goals. The wins were against Borussia Monchengladbach and Hamburger SV, while the draw was against Wolfsburg. However, all of the matches were pretty even in play, so the trend is still based on coincidences. Cologne is normally better on counter-attacks with Bittencourt and Risse on the wings, and Modeste as striker. For tonight’s match they will miss Kevin Vogt in central midfield, he has been pretty good, but I believe he is replaceable.
Ingolstadt lost for the second time at home this season when they hosted Hamburger SV earlier this week, and they too have ten points after six matches. For tonight’s match their regular striker Moritz Hartmann is back. Their central defender Benjamin Hubner is doubtful, he has been very good this season, so make sure you check the starting XI before betting. If he is out it is negative for Ingolstadt, who has lost the last three away matches with 1-0. Those results say quite a lot about the team, they focus on tight defence and are very selective with when they go on the attack. At their home pitch they have struggled a bit more, but with the exception of the 0-4 loss to Dortmund then five out of the six Bundesliga matches has ended with one or no goals.
It is not common for me to bet on the under in total goals no matter the league, but this is especially true for the Bundesliga. Many matches go over 2.5 goals once one goal is scored, and last season 51% of the matches ended over 2.5. So far this season it is 59%. This means odds of just below 1.70 for the over 2.5 and just under 2.44 for the under 2.5. But there is usually no rule without an exception, and both these teams are normally focusing on their defensive play. I will therefore go for the under 2.5 at odds 9/13 (1.69) with Unibet.
