Darmstadt has six points in five matches. They have focused mostly on a very solid defensive organisation, and the offensive play has been in short supply. You know what you will get from the Darmstadt side, and I doubt they will change their strategy for tonight’s match. So far this season they have managed quite well and should not complain about the number of points earned. We will see if their recent 3-0 loss to a weakened Bayern Munich side has affected them, or if they are back in normal defence mode. They have no new injuries or suspensions to reprt.

Werder Bremen has done well without Di Santo and Selke, and has seven points after five matches. They are probably ok with this, neither happy nor very disappointed. So far Werder seems to have taken a reasonably balanced approach to their matches, but we do see indications that they are best at counter-attacking. Tonight they will probably need to control the match, and this is therefore not the best scenario for the team. They lost to Ingolstadt in a match quite similar to this one (even though Ingolstadt should be slightly better in offence than Darmstadt). Werder Bremen will be without the defensive midfielder Bargfrede tonight, and the defender Garcia is also out. Junosovic, who is in good form with two goals and one assist, is doubtful. Check the starting XI before making bets, if he is out it will weaken the Werder side.

For me, this is a match where Werder Bremen will either manage to break down the Darmstadt defence, or they will not. If they will not, then it is hard to put a percentage probability on the home win versus the draw. Considering this, I find the away win tempting, and I will go for Werder Bremen at odds 2.89 with Sportmarket.
