Second plays third, but there is local pride at stake also here in the Revier derby. Dortmund (16-3-7) despite an inconsistent season have still qualified for the quarter finals of the Champions league, and are favourites to finish second in Bundesliga. A good win in Hannover at the weekend was perfect preparation for this, and Dortmund will be confident of completing the double over Schalke, after a 3-1 win there earlier in the season. Schalke (15-5-6) have been in mainly excellent form in the league, apart from a lesson in Munich, and have all but cemented a Champions space for next season. They would love to get second though, at the expense of the old enemy, and this game looks set to be even more explosive than usual. Definitely missing for Dortmund will be long-term absentees Jakub Blaszczykowski and Neven Subotic ( knee) and Ilkay Gundogan (back), while Sven Bender and Marcel Schmelzer ( groin) are also on the sidelines. Schalke captain Benedikt Howedes is out and fellow defenders Christian Fuchs (knee), Felipe Santana, Atsuto Uchida ( hamstring) and Jan Kirchhoff (ankle) miss out, while midfielders Jefferson Farfan, Marco Hoger and Dennis Aogo (all knee) and Christian Clemens (hip) also battling injuries.
