Eintracht Frankfurt has started the season with two wins, two draws, two losses, and a goal difference of 12-8. The teams they have lost to are Wolfsburg and Schalke, while they have beaten Stuttgart and Cologne. The draws were against Augsburg and Hamburger SV. So far they have played two of the matches at home, they ended 1-1 against Augsburg and a whopping 6-2 against Cologne. The last match they played was earlier this week, when they on Wednesday lost 2-0 away to Schalke. For today’s match their striker Seferovic is out, he has three goals so far this season and is a real threat to defences together with Castaignos and Meier, and is today probably replaced by Aigner (who has not scored yet in this season’s Bundesliga). Their defender  Chandler is still out, and it is 50/50 if Reinartz will play in midfield. The youngster Gereziher, another midfielder, is also doubtful. Plus there is some doubt concering their central defender Zambrano. Another defender, Bambo, is not ready yet, although he has not played for the club this season.

Hertha Berlin has 3-1-2 and ten points, and a goal difference of 7-7. They have beaten Augsburg, Stuttgart and Cologne, so not that great opposition, but still a better start to the season compared to what was expected pre-season. Their losses were to Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg, so no surprise there. In the last few matches they have varied a both won and lost matches, but Tuesday this week they beat Cologne 2-0 after two goals by Ibsevic. Their attacker Weiser is doubtful for today’s match, and they are still missing goalie Kraft (which means Jarstein gets to continue as goalie some more). Their central defenders Langkamp and Brooks are still out, same with striker Beerens, and defender Pekarik. There are also some other long term injuries, players that have not yet played this season, such as Ronny (he is back in training), Ben-Hatira and Allagui.

The two fixtures last season were very different. In Berlin the match ended 0-0, while in Frankfurt it ended 4-4. Both teams are good at counter-attacking, and it will be interesting to see the chosen strategies when it comes to possession. I assume that Frankfurt as the home team will take the leading and role and keep possession, and since Frankfurt is a bit more balanced as a team now compared to earlier, it is hard to predict lots of goals. But having said that, if there is a goal scored then lots more could follow! So I recommend to watch the match live. Hertha Berlin has performed well, but I think Frankfurt is a better team overall, they seem solid enough at home so my pre-match bet is Eintracht Frankfurt at odds 1/1 (2.0) with BET365.
