In the Bundesliga Eintracht Frankfurt is 6-2-1 at home this season. Hoffenheim is 1-1-6 away. Form wise Eintracht Frankfurt didn’t do well in the Christmas break friendlies, and they lost away to Leverkusen in the first game after the break. Hoffenheim notched two wins out of two in the friendlies, and grabbed a much needed point at home against Gladbach in their first match after the break.

The reverse fixture ended 0-4. The score was perhaps overly flattering, but Frankfurt greatly deserved the win. Frankfurt is a massive 17 points ahead of Hoffenheim in 18 matches.

The big X-Factor is the extensive spending Hoffenheim has done in the transfer window. Normally it will take time for new players to gel with their team mates. Why should it be different here? Let’s look at the facts: Hoffenheim is at least one class below Frankfurt. The reverse fixture illustrates my view on that. Hoffenheim is poor away, and here they’re up against one of the best home teams so far this season. Looking at the preview so far, I can’t do much else than recommend the home win.
