Frankfurt are in the hunt for a European place come the end of the year and are currently 5th in the Bundesliga with 39 points form 25 matches. This has them in 5th place and in a Europa League spot but they are even on points and goal difference with 4th place Schalke so a win here could take them into the final Champions League spot. Their recent form has been very poor however with 3 draws and 2 defeats in their last 5 matches and if they continue this they’ll drop out of the top 6 altogether.
Stuttgart have had a poor season by their standards and are down in 14th in the table with 29 points form 25 matches. They are well clear of relegation with 10 points between them and the automatic relegation places but back to back league defeats mean they won’t be moving up the table anytime soon.
