Borussia Moenchen Gladbach has scored two or more in their last six Bundesliga matches, and they've looked comfortable at the back as well. Allthough they went out of the DFB cup against a spirited Bielefeld side in a thriller of a match that went to penalties wednesday I think 3.08 for Gladbach at Borussia Park is a gift. Very few teams in the Bundesliga can compete when Gladbach turns on the style. Their recent form includes a great win over Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena so I think 3.08 against a Dortmund side that can be said to be struggling is obvious value.
Borussia Dortmund is of course a very good side, but they just haven't looked anything like their recent best for quite some time now. In their last six Bundesliga matches they are 3-2-1, but I do not think they've faced the stiffest of competition in Stuttgart, Schalke, HSV, Cologne and Hannover. Last matchday Dortmund lost 1-0 to a sub par Bayern Munich playing without several offensive key players. Dortmund managed to squeeze past Hoffenheim in a tough cup battle this midweek, so they do come in on a high.
Dortmund have doubts over Sven Bender first and foremost. Hummels, Reus, Aubameyang and Blaszczkowsi has been training well thursday and should all be fit after taking various knocks.
The most likely game play scenario is that Gladbach surrenders the possession to Dortmund. Then go for blistering counter attacks. I do not rate the defensive setup at Klopp's disposal at the minute. Hummels is pondering a move and Subotic is in my opinion far off his best. The other defenders haven't been consistent enough either given Dortmunds high standards. If the game ends up moving along this script I think Dortmund will get hurt. Very very hurt! Obviously other possibilities exist, like Dortmund surrendering possession and play a similar strategy with Aubameyang and Reus leading the line. It is possible, but even then; Gladbach has so much firepower going forward they deserve to be favorites in my opinion.
Since and including 2013 Gladbach is 3-1-1 against Dortmund. Recent history between football clubs is perhaps not the strongest of indicators of relative strength at this moment in time, but this gives added weight to my conclusion.
Home win shout and an excellent price to go with it.
