Hannover is still at the bottom of the table with only two points, after drawing two matches and losing the rest. They started the season with a draw, followed by five consecutive losses, and last weekend they got their second draw when they actually managed 1-1 away to Wolfsburg.

Artur Sobiech (attacker), Hiroir Sakai (defender) and Leon Andreassen (midfield) are all doubtful for today’s match. Uffe Bech (attacker), Edgar Prib (midfield) and Charlison Benschop (attacker) are still injured.

Werder Bremen has seven points in seven matches, and the stats are 2-1-4 and 7-12. The two wins came against Gladbach  (2-1 at home) and Hoffenheim (3-1 away). In addition they have a draw against Hertha Berlin, and lost to Schalke, Ingolstadt, Darmstadt, and last weekend against Bayer Leverkusen. Their form is not good, as they have three consecutive losses (0-1 Ingolstadt, 1-2 Darmstadt, 0-3 Bayer Leverkusen).

Philipp Bargfrede (midfield) has been suspended due to a red card, and today’s match is the last he is suspended for. New injuries include his replacement in midfield Felix Kroos. Julian von Haacke (midfield, not regular starter), Aron Johansson (attacker, regular starter), Melvyn Lorenzen (attacker), Ozkan Yildrim (midfielder, not regular), and Raphael Wolf (goalie, would be a contender for the regular position) are all still injured.

This is a match between two teams out of form. I do consider Werder Bremen as the better team and a narrow favourite (they do at least have a higher maximum potential), but their problem here is the defensive midfield. My bet is based on Sobiech not starting the match for Hannover, so make sure you check the starting XI to confirm this – if he is out then they will miss the players that have scored 50% of their goals so far this season.
