Hoffenheim has continued with their free flowing attack minded football. Last weekend shocked the Bundesliga with a 5-1 win away to HSV. In their season opener they drew Nurnberg 2-2. New boy Braafheid (defender) is out still, and so is the striker Derdiyok. New on the injury list is reserve keeper Jens Grahl.

Freiburg has lost two out of two, and has a goal difference of 2-5. Last weekend they lost deservedly 2-1 to Mainz 05 in a game that was very cagey until Freiburg had to attack. The game opened up then and Freiburg managed to score, and had a couple of chances to equalize.

Last season Freiburg had most of the possession, and had a significant better completed pass stat, but it was Hoffenheim that won this game 2-1 after two goals from Volland. Hoffenheim even hit the post in that game.  Hoffenheim simply countered Freiburg to pieces. Freiburg looks slightly poorer than last season and Hoffenheim has definitely improved their squad. I expect Hoffenheim to offer more in terms of possession this time around.

Hoffenheim has brought in a lot of talent this transfer window. They also play some wonderful attacking football. They’ll probably concede a goal on breaks here, maybe even two.
