Schalke 04 v Bayer Leverkusen predictions & betting tips
Schalke 04 has just one point from three Bundesliga games so far. They’ve let in nine goals and scored only four. Schalke did however win 3-2 away against PAOK in midweek. Here Central Defender Howedes and Left back Fuchs is both missing. Central defender Papadopoulos, Striker Huntelaar and left back reserve Kolasinac are all out injured still.
Dennis Aogo (Left back) with some matches for the German National team has been brought in from HSV. He will probably go straight into the side here. In the center of defense Matip and Santana is the most likely pairing. For Huntelaar it will be Szalai starting. Overall pretty good replacements one has to say. However, the bench is mighty thin now.
Bayer Leverkusen has opened with three wins out of three. They looked fantastic beating Gladback 4-2 at home last Bundesliga match day. Their attacking players are a joy to watch. After Schurrle went to Chelsea some questions were raised, but the speedy Sidney Sam has been phenomenal so far. Kiessling has also started where he left off last season, in top form.
Predictions for run of play
Since and including 2012 this fixture has been played two times. In the 2011/2012 season Schalke won 2-0. Last season it ended 2-2. Schalke came from 0-2 down after two late goals. Leverkusen should have put the game out of hosts reach, but failed to do so.
Against a Schalke 04 that leaks goals left, right and center I am sure Leverkusen will be eager to let their aforementioned offensive players go at the Schalke back line with full force. I would be surprised if Leverkusen doesn’t take control of this game, but even if they let Schalke have more possession they can counter the Gelsenkirchen boys to pieces! Schalke still has a great eleven though, and in Draxler, Szalai and Farfan they have the player material to create chances against every team in the Bundesliga.

Here I got two betting tips for you. The first is Leverkusen at 2.25 (5/4) on the 1x2. Under “normal circumstances” I would never touch the odds on offer, but Schalke is in crises of sorts and Leverkusen just looks very solid at the minute. It looks like it will be a “shoot-out” of sorts. Schalke only knows attacking, and with a weakened defense I wouldn’t be surprised if they go for out-scoring Leverkusen. That is a tough ask against a very solid forward line on the opposite half.
