Schalke are looking to keep pace with Bayern at the top of the table but are already finding it a struggle.  They are currently in second place in the Bundesliga with 20 points after 10 matches, winning 6, drawing 2 and losing 2.  They are already a huge 7 points off the leaders and will struggle to catch an amazing Bayern team.  Schalke’s last 5 matches have seen 3 wins, a draw and a loss.  An average of 3.2 goals has been scored per game and 4 of the 5 have finished with over 2.5 goals.

Bremen are in a group of teams all hovering within a few points of each other from 6^th to 14^th place.  They are currently in 7^th place with 14 points after 10 matches with 4 wins, 2 draws and 4 losses.  Their last 5 matches have seen 2 wins, 2 losses and a draw but they are unbeaten in 3.  They have seen an average of 3.0 goals over those 5 games and 3 have been over 2.5 goals.

TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

Schalke are looking to continue on from last season where they finished in a strong 3^rd position and qualified for the Champions League.  They don’t have the squad currently to fight for the title in my opinion but another year of Champions League football will keep their revenue higher than anyone in Germany except Bayern.  They were quiet in the transfer market this summer, preferring to keep the same squad on the whole that performed so well last year.  It has worked for them so far and they are looking in an excellent position to make it back to back top 3 finishes.

Bremen finished 9^th last season and will struggle to push on much from there this year.  They lost Marko Marin to Chelsea and Naldo to Wolfsburg but did manage to bring in some good replacements like Eljero Elia from Juve and Papastathopouos from Genoa.  I doubt they have enough to push for a European place this year and expect a finish between 6^th and 10^th.
