I recommended a bet on Schalke at odds 2/1 in their last match against Stuttgart, and they won that and are continuing their progress under coach Breitenreiter. They currently have nine points in five matches and seems to be back in the fight for a Champions League spot. The team is really well organised compared to the last couple of previous seasons. I have been waiting for the team to go all gung-ho, but so far this has not happened. They have a well-balanced team and several offensive players that can decide matches. As usual, the team has some injuries. The players Sam (winger), Nastasic (central defender) and Uchida (defender) are still unavailable. And for this match the defenders Matip and Aogo are doubtful. Howedes got some minutes on the field against Stuttgart, this is a player that can play on German international level, so to get him back and in form would be good for Schalke. But he has been out for quite some time, so it remains to see if he gets the chance from start tonight.
Eintracht Frankfurt has eight points in five matches, and a goal difference of 12-6. The goal difference is much due to the big win over Stuttgart where they scored six goals. Frankfurt is a team, similar to Schalke, which has struggled with their defence and conceded lots of goals. Their top scorer Alexander Meier (he scored a hat-trick against Cologne, after returning from injury) has therefore been crucial to them. But so far this season the team looks quite well-balanced, and has not conceded that many goals when playing away. So they are pretty disciplined, and Castaignos and Seferovic on top are also performing well. Schalke will definitely give them respect in this match, if they don’t then Frankfurt will punish them for it. The defender Oczpika is the only doubtful for tonight.
This is a match with good potential for several goals, but I am not able to find any value in the pre-game odds. The best is to wait for the match to start, then consider how the teams are playing. If they are creating several chances then I will probably be betting over 2.50 or over 2.25 at odds around 1/1 (2.00).
