Schalke is in third place, one point behind Borussia Dortmund and eight points behind Bayern Munich. They have won five matches, tied one, and lost two. The two losses came against Wolfsburg (away) and Cologne (home). The latter match was in the latest round, where they lost big 0-3 at home to Cologne, and this broke their winning streak of six matches (including European cup). Next week Schalke will play in the Europa League when Sparta Prague will visit.

Schalke has Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Choupo-Moting doubtful for today’s match, same goes for Joel Matip. Besides these there is not much news to report. The centre backs Nastasic and Santana, plus goalie Giefer, full back Uchida and midfielder Hoger are all still out.

Hertha Berlin is now up in a great fourth position, two points behind Schalke. They have four wins, two draws, and two losses. The two losses came against Dortmund and Wolfsburg. Hertha has not lost in the last three matches, and in these they have beaten Cologne 2-0 at home (a team that recently beat Schalke 3-0 away), tied 1-1 away to Frankfurt, and in the latest round they won 3-0 at home to HSV (new signing Ibsevic scored twice, in 76th and 78th minute).

Niklas Stark is new on the Hertha injury list. Players Peter Pekarik, Julian Schieber, Anis Ben-Hatira, Sami Allagui and Thomas Kraft are all still out. For today’s match the following players are also doubtful: Sebastian Langkamp, Ronny and Roy Beerens.

I have repeated myself many times in earlier Schalke predictions – Schalke under Breitenreiter appears as a much better team compared to earlier! They did lose big to Cologne in last match, and could have some important players out for today’s match, so I recommend that you check the latest starting XI before betting.
