Bremens solid start to the season came off the rails with a 4-1 loss at Gladbach where they were well beaten. Before this Bremen looked to be on the way to sorting out their defensive frailties of last season. The news of key midfielder Junozovic ruled out with injury and Yildirim also a doubt for this clash is worrying. Goals scored are also a problem with just three scored so far and strikers Di Santo and Petersen hardly prolific in front of goal. In head to heads Bremen have won 25 of the 38 meetings at home, although the most recent three have resulted in two draws and a loss.

Frankfurt have had a tough opening to the season having already played and lost to the might of Bayern and Dortmund. They performed well in both though losing by the odd goal in each, and against Dortmund they probably deserved to take a point based on the run of play. Their only points so far came in an emphatic away win at new boys Braunschweig. In Kevin Trapp they have one of the best keepers in the league and he can provide a solid base for the team. Swiss midfielder Schwegler a regular starter will miss the game.
