Werder Bremen played well last weekend against Hoffenheim, and they are impressing especially in the offensive play. Selke and Di Santo left the club in the last transfer window, and this caused some concern, but the new arrivals, and especially Ujah (two goals and one assist in four matches), have done well. Pizzaro came from Bayern Munich and has only played a few minutes, but he seems promising, and the American Johannsson has been ok. For today’s match Junuzovic (two goals and one assist so far this season) is unavailable, and that is negative, as he has been one of the best offensive players along with Ujah. Bargfrede in defensive midfield is back again, though.
Ingolstadt was newly promoted and has done well so far this season, and should be very happy with seven points after four matches. They have beaten both Augsburg and Mainz away, two teams similar in strength to today’s opponent Werder Bremen. Last weekend they managed a 0-0 draw at home against Wolfsburg. Wolfsburg controlled the match as was by far the closest to scoring, but Ingolstadt was not completely out-played. Ingolstadt has no new injuries or suspensions.
This looks like a fairly evenly matched game. Except for the season opener against Schalke, Werder Bremen has done well in similar evenly matched games, especially against Hoffenheim and Gladbach in the last two matches. The pre-match odds of just above 2.00 for Werder to win seem where they should be. So I will watch this match live, and for instance assess how Werder is taking advantage of the aearial skills of Ujah against a more defensive Ingolstadt. If Werder looks good in this regard, I will probably be betting Werder -0.25 at around odds 2.00 with BET365, if the opportunity arises and it is still 11 versus 11 men.
