AJAX – FEYENOORD: PREDICTIONS

This is a big derby in Netherlands; referred to as “Klassieker” it’s simply the biggest and most passionate rivalry in the country.  Games are normally very heated affairs both on and off the pitch, so much so that away fans are now banned in both games.

Ajax started well with an opening day 3-0 rout over Roda, on gameday two things didn’t go well for Frank de Boer’s men.  Facing up to AZ in Alkmaar, they squandered the lead twice and ended up with a red card, eventually losing the game 3-2. Ajax will miss key defender Ricardo Van Rhijn who is suspended.

Feyernood are in all sorts of problems as they go into the classic. Two straight defeats means they are only off the bottom of the table due to goal difference. Losses away to promoted Zwolle (2-1) and at the weekend they were hammered at home 4-1 to Twente. The game was a disaster and included two red cards. Both key defenders will miss the game though suspension (Stefan Di Vriij and Jordi Van Deelen.  Unlikely to return also is Daryl Janmaat, so that’s three of the four starting defence out.

AJAX – FEYENOORD: BETTING TIPS

Both sides are not firing as yet but Feyenoord problems run a lot deeper. The side was full strength on the opening day and they were second rate against a poor Zwolle side. Last week was a complete letdown and Koeman must have read the riot act at the end of the match. Missing three 1^st line defenders will not help the cause and I think Ajax could destroy Feyenoord here. I take Ajax -1.5 (bet365) on Asian Handicap.
