Wanderers host reigning champions and continental big boys Guangzhou Evergrande. Western Sydney have been dormant for a few months having played only 2 competitive football matches since early May when they beat Hiroshima in round of 16. However they have some bad news as they will be without Australia defender Matthew Spiranovic. By stark contrast the Chinese are well into their season and are flying in China Super League. They top the division with 51 points and have won 16 of their 22 league games so far. Coached by famed Italian Marcello Lippi and boasting a strikeforce of compatriots Alberto Gilardino and Alessandro Diamante plus top Brazilians in Elkeson and Rene they are a class outfit. They have the best players in China too and did well at the World Club finishing 4^th.

Big game in Asia and one lopsided slightly by the playing calander. Australian teams at a huge disadvantage at this stage. The league ends in May and nearly 3 months of inactivity mean they will be lacking the edge of matchday fitness and sharpness. They are clearly below the Chinese in top level players too. I fear the front three of Elkeson, Gilardino and Diamante will be telling.
