AC Milan hold the upper hand in the Champions League play-off match against PSV, as they got an important away goal in the first leg last week that ended 1-1. It was a match where PSV dominated the first 45 minutes, hitting the woodwork and creating several chances that challenged the Milan goalkeeper, whereas AC Milan came back stronger in the second half. The goals were scored against the run of play, it was Milan that opened the score sheet in their first attack after 15 minutes, and then PSV got a deserved equalizer in the 60th minute. Overall PSV had 51% of the possession and won attempts and shots on target stats 19-14 and 10-5. Man of the match was Milan right defender Abate.

AC Milan started their domestic season last weekend in disappointing fashion by losing 2-1 away to one of the relegations favourites Verona. Milan are coming in to this match with a few injuries, striker Pazzini and central defender Bonero out with knee injuries, while midfielder de Jong is doubtful (though he was on the bench in the weekend match). For PSV the forward Bakkali (played two of the league matches and did really weel against NEC on 10/8) and midfielder Wijnaldum (have played most recent matches including first leg last week) are both doubtful, and midfielder Hiljemark is out (did not play last week).

This looks like a very tough match, Milan are the favourites at home but perhaps a bit too big favourites. PSV will not be an easy opponent, they have played more league matches recently and even though Milan have an advantage in the away goal, the pressure is on them as the fans will demand group stage play in the Champions League and a far better performance than in the first league match last weekend.
