Arsenal holds second place in the EPL, but has arguably been at a lesser level as of late when compared to the very best performances of the season. Even in the FA Cup against Liverpool this weekend they were exposed at the back several times. Liverpool could however not convert more than once and Arsenal scored two goals.

In the Champions League this season Arsenal lost 1-2 at home against Dortmund, while beating both Napoli and Marseille 2-0. Wenger will miss Mikel Arteta (Central Midfield), Theo Walcott (Attacking midfielder), Aaron Ramsey (versatile midfielder, and perhaps their best performer this season) and Thomas Vermaelen (Central Defender).

Bayern Munich is 19-2-0 in the Bundesliga so far with a goal difference of 57-9. Simply amazing stats! If possible the team seems improved compared to last season when they won everything. In the calendar year of 2013 they played two English clubs, Arsenal and Man City. They won both those games away from home. They did however lose against both clubs when at home. An interesting fact to ponder! Influential winger Franck Ribery and versatile, attackminded midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri who has gotten quite a bit of playing time as of late will both sit out.

Run of play

Bayern Munich has maintained their energy but is more possession oriented under Pep Guardiola, and I definitely think they have potential to hold onto the ball over 50% of the time even away. Liverpool managed 56% in the weekend against Arsenal, and Bayern Munich obviously is miles ahead of LFC. The question is really up to what strategy Guardiola chooses.

Bayern Munich goes into this tie feeling invincible. I think Arsenal is unsure about their form level.
