This is the return leg of the Champions League play-off match and Arsenal are hosting the Turkish side Fenerbahce. The first leg was played last week and Arsenal won 3-0, all three goals coming in the second half by Gibbs, Ramsey, and Giroud. In other words, Arsenal are as good as through to the group stages, and it would be a huge surprise if Fenerbahce were to produce the necessary goal winning margin. Arsenal had plenty of possession in the first half of last week's match, but were unable to create many chances. In the second half they seemed more determined, with Gibbs opening the score sheet after 51 minutes. Even if Fenerbahce should win with the three or more goals necessary to be the aggregate winner, Arsenal might advance to the group stage - subject to a Court of Arbitration in Sport decision on Wednesday. Fenerbahce were earlier in June banned for two years from European competition due to match-fixing allegations, but they were reinstated while an appeal is heard, and the result of this appeal will be made public the day after the match.
