Bayern Munich heads into this Champions League Semifinal second leg at the Allianz Arena one goal down after dominating Real Madrid possession wise at the Bernabeu last match day. The scene is set for a thriller of a game. Last match day also yielded yet another plus for my Champions League betting. I sincerly hope this will continue here.

Form

Both sides proved good match winning form in the weekend even if a handful of first eleven starters were rested by both Guardiola and Ancelotti. Bayern Munich beat Werder Bremen 5-2 at home, having 11 shots on target. Pizarro displayed top form scoring twice and also giving an assist. He surely must be in contention for the game against Real on the basis of that display.

Real Madrid produced a 4-0 win over Osasuna, controlling possession and outshooting the visitors 5-1. Ronaldo was on fire scoring twice. While both Di Maria and Isco bagged two assists each.

Team news

Midfielders Thiago Alacantara and Xherdan Shaqiri are still both out for Bayern, but other than that they are good to go. Real Madrid should see Gareth Bale return after a virus issue. Pepe and Karim Benzema should also be fit after taking a few knocks. Sami Khedira and Alvaro Arbeloa remains sidelined though.

Run of Play

Barcelona had around 75% possession in the first half at the Bernabeu, but Real fought back somewhat in the second half and did not let Bayern have quite as much of the ball. Here I think we again will see Bayern totally dominate possession stats, but at the same time I do think they’ll try to be more direct when the chance arises. Now they need the win! Real Madrid also has world class talent, and is always going to be likely scorers in a football game. Here they will most likely again allow Bayern time on the ball, so they can counter with speed and precision. It will be down to conversion on the night.
