CELTIC V BARCELONA PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: STATS AND FACTS

Celtic still lead the SPL but it has been far from the procession to the title that most people expected.  They have picked up 21 points from 11 matches but have dropped points in 5 games, almost as many as they have won (6).  This isn’t good enough for a team with far more resources than anyone else in the division and they should be easily ahead of the rest.  In the Champions League Celtic are an impressive 2^nd place with 4 points from 3 matches, they were expected to finish bottom of the group so fighting to get through to the knockout stages is very impressive.

Barcelona have been almost perfect this year and are top of la liga with 28 points from 10 games.  Their only dropped points was a draw with main rivals Madrid, who they hold an 8 point lead over.  In the Champions League they have 3 wins from 3 but have had to come from behind in their two home matches, a win tonight will see them comfortably through to the knockout stages.

RUN OF PLAY AND TEAM NEWS

Celtic impressed a lot of people with their excellent display at Camp Nou two weeks ago where they held Barcelona to a 1-1 draw until the 94^th minute when they conceded a crushing goal.  They were expected to lose by multiple goals so the display showed Europe they had been underestimated.  Some indifferent league form is not the ideal preparation for this match and another draw at the weekend will keep some pressure on the players in the league but they should easily be able to motivate themselves for one of the biggest night at Parkhead in years.

Barcelona on the other hand are doing everything right and can afford to begin to rest players in the Champions League, needing just another point to guarantee they make it through the group.  They have struggled badly with injuries this year so will be hoping to get everyone back to full fitness before the tough knockout stages come around.

CELTIC V BARCELONA PREDICTIONS: 1X2 BETTING PREVIEW

Barcelona are big favourites as you’d expect for this and they should manage a comfortable victory.  We saw two weeks ago however that Celtic can put up a fight and will be organised to try and nullify the Barcelona threat. 

The odds are small but I think a Barcelona win is the only result I can see here.  Back it at 1.33 with Stan James.

If you want to up the odds then the AH market offers us some nice bets.  You can back Barcelona -1.5 which means they have to win by 2 or more goals for the bet to win. 3 of Barcelona’s last 5 victories have been by multiple goals.

I think Ladbrokes are being generous offering 1.94 on this so will be backing that ahead of the 1x2 market.

CELTIC - BARCELONA PREDICTIONS: TOTAL GOALS PREVIEW

4 of Celtic’s last 5 matches have had over 2.5 goals while Barcelona go one better with all 5 of their recent matches going over 2.5 goals.

As you can imagine Over 2.5 Goals is a very strong favourite and I think it’s still a bit high at 1.53 with Pinnacle.
