Galatasaray has improved under Mancini, no doubt. The experienced Italian has stabilized things, and form has returned. They are now unbeaten in eleven games in the Super Lig.
Galatasaray has beaten FCK and Juventus at home in the Champions League this season, and lost big to Real Madrid. Mancini doesn’t have the best of Champions League records but beating Juventus was huge. It shows their potential. The Turks should have no injury concerns worth mentioning.
Chelsea is on top of the EPL. They were subpar against Everton this weekend, but still pulled out a stoppage time goal from a Lamps/Terry combination. They’re defensively very strong, and can dominate games both through possession and counter attack play. They’re also strong on set pieces. Chelsea should have no particular injury worries for this game.
In the Champions League so far Chelsea has been pretty good away from home, beating Steaua Bucuresti 4-0 and Schalke 04 3-0. They did however lose 1-0 to Basel.
I think the most likely scenario is that Chelsea will allow the home side quite a bit of possession and go for speedy counter attacks with Hazard leading the line. Galatasaray definitely has players who can utilize that possession. I think this will be a very close game.
Betting tip
You can get 3.50 for the draw at Bet365. I definitely see value in those odds. Chelsea is priced at 2.00 and that is really not attractive. Everyone that saw how spirited Galatasaray was against Juventus will tell you that. Also, with an attack consisting of ever young Drogba, an improved Wesley Sneijder and always solid Burak Yilmaz there is goal threat in this team. They can pick them self up from going a goal down, or even score first here.
I dedcide to not go for the home win simply because Chelsea under Mourinho is so well organized defensively that it is almost painful to watch. Mourinho also will know very well how to handle Sneijder and Drogba as he has managed them in the past.
The draw price of 3.50 indicates a 28.57% chance of that happening. I would definitely say that is at least 10% too high in this setting. A must bet in my book!
