Another tasty match up in UCL as Man City host Roma in the group of death. Man City lost on opening day to Bayern Munich so this game is a vital one of the Citizens. City  in the Premier League have been a bit hit and miss by their own high standards. They are in 3^rd postion though with 3 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss. City have streamlined their squad this season and got rid of a fair bit of dead wood. They brough in a few players of quality still though and the evergreen Frank Lampard has shown his worth with 4 goals in the last 3 matches. City must do without Nasri, Fernando and Jovetic.  Roma have started brilliantly in Italy and are 2^nd best to Juventus despite winning all 5 games so far. A major problem for them though is travelling to England. Roma have a terrible record in England in European competition. Just 1 win in 14 matches is poor indeed. Davide Astori (knee) and Juan Iturbe (thigh) and Leandro Castán are injured – while Daniele de Rossi is back from suspension but may not be fit to play.

A great match in prospect here but I think the all round strength of the Sky Blues will prove decisive here. Its one thing for Roma to be beating teams home and away in Italy but it’s a big step up in class on the European stage. Juventus found the same difficulties last year. They were rubbish in Champions League despite running away with Serie a.
