Manchester United has to find its Olympiakos moment like Liverpool did last time the Merseysiders won the Champions League. Can they do it? It will be tough! The mighty red devils are two goals down before this crucial clash at Old Trafford.
Manchester United v Olympiakos – form
Manchester United lost 3-0 at home to lifelong enemy number one Liverpool in the weekend. It was a high octane game that is likely to still be felt by the Manchester United players. Several key players underperformed in that game. Manchester United is actually just 5-7-3 in their last fifteen matches all competitions included. That is poor!
Olympiakos had a blip in form after beating Manchester United 2-0 in the Champions League, but in the weekend they won 2-0 against Panthrakikos, denying the visitors as much as a shot on goal. They totally owned possession too (74%). As runaway leaders in Greece it is all about this match for them now!
Manchester United v Olympiakos – team news
Manchester United has doubts over two defenders. Evans and Smalling! Other than that all players should be fit. They have no suspensions.
Olympiakos miss Siovas (Central defender), and it looks like full back Holebas and the young in-form, attacking player Olaitan is out too from what I can gather. Saviola sat out in the first leg but is fit to return. His experience will be much needed.
Manchester United – Olymiakos, run of play
I would be very surprised if Manchester United would do anything else but fly out of the starting block, trying to get a goal early on. The atmosphere is bound to be phenomenal. However, if United fail to impress early on, the atmosphere might quiet down a bit.
United fans are spoiled. Twenty years of domination does that to people. Under such conditions Manchester United players would find it a lot tougher to compete.
Olympiakos has to play on the counter here. They will have to fight like lions. This is going to be all out war! Having Saviola back helps. Campbell has shown some flair down the flanks. They will be quietly confident they can get something out of this game.
Manchester United vs Olympiakos betting tip
I will go for Olympiakos here. They are priced at 7.0 with Bet365!
What is very clear is that Olympiakos is a good footballing side. They showed that in the first leg. They will not have much fear for their opponent going into this tie.
It is also pretty clear that Manchester United is not anywhere near top form. The form stats I mentioned above are simply unacceptable for a club of this stature. I am not even sure this side under Moyes qualifies to be branded anything but a midtable EPL team. Why would that scare Olympiakos?
Why would anyone want to bet on this Manchester United side priced at 1.50? Even hard core Man Utd fans will say those odds are poor.
I do also think Manchester United will feel the weekend game in their legs. The tempo in that derby game was just insane.
All in all; plenty of good reasons to go for 6/1 at Bet365, and very few reasons to go bonkers on the Man Utd odds! New clients will also get up to €200 in deposit bonuses.
