MARIBOR – BIRKIRKARA: PREDICTIONS

Slovenia host Malta in a game that is closer than a lot of people may think. Can Birkirkara cause a huge upset? Will Maribor find it easier at home? European Champions League continues with a cracker in Stadion Ljudski vrt.

Maribor are one of the most successful teams in Slovenian football. Never relegated from the top flight they have 1 Yugoslavian title and 11 Slovenian titles, including the last three in a row.  Maribor are very experienced in European competition with 105 matches. They have 41 wins, 19 draws and 45 defeats. In ECL they have won 19 and lost 16 of their 41 games. In the 1^st leg they were the inferior side, at very short odds they were under par for sure. The stifling heat may have been an issue but the side were not on the ball.
