MOLDE - SLIGO: PREDICTIONS

Molde took the game in Sligo 1-0 to establish a nice 1^st leg lead and also grabbed an important away goal. European Champions League continues with a decent game in Norway.

Molde of Norway grabbed their 1^st league title in 2011 and quickly followed up with their 2^nd last season. The side are marshalled well by up and coming manager and Norwegian legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.  In Europe the side has 52 games with 14 wins, 13 draws and 25 defeats. This season though the side have not been at the top of the game, the season is 16 games old and Molde find themselves only 2 points off relegation. In Ireland Molde were the better side in a cagey affair. The Norwegians controlled the play for long periods and apart from the opening 20 minutes were on top.

Sligo won the Irish league title for the 1^st time since 1977 and only the 3^rd time in their history. The side, who are owned rather uniquely by their own fans are a modern day success story, coming out of a recent financial disaster. Sligo’s European record is disastrous however, reading like a tally of one of the confederations minnows. In 18 matches they have just 1 win, 6 draws and 11 defeats.  The only tie they have progressed through was a game against Maltese side Floriana. The Irish season is in full swing and Sligo sit in 3rd position. In the home leg Sligo were too nervous, they started off well but seemed to lack belief in themselves. They backed off when in good positions and seemed to squander possession needlessly.

MOLDE - SLIGO: BETTING TIPS

I think this is a straightforward match for Molde. They will take the win they need here to progress and Sligo should not trouble them. The gap in class is huge here and odds around 1.35 are good value. This is too short for us however, I take Molde Win To Nil which is a very big 2.10 (Coral) – Sligo are not in the same class as the Norwegians and never looked like scoring in the home leg so I don’t think they will show much in Norway either.
