Nordsjaelland prefers playing ball, and I would not be surprised if they get to keep the ball about 50% of the time. In the Danish Superliga they can do plenty with the possession they get both home and away, but in the Champions League so far they have been exposed. They aren’t converting their chances, and they let in goals too easily for this level. Here I think Nordsjaelland might be allowed a great deal of possession. At least this gives them the opportunity of a balanced approach to the game. Nordsjaelland needs to be patient and go forward with real intent only when the chance is right. If the home side can do this they might get something out of this game.

Juventus came back from being two down to Chelsea at the Bridge, but a blip against Shakthar Donetsk have turned this into a must win fixture for the Italian powerhouse. With world class quality all over the pitch I am a bit surprised Juventus so often allows the opposition time on the ball. Sure, Juventus have a system that allows them to counter attack well, but Nordsjaelland might easily be allowed to cuddle the ball 45-55% of the game time here.  If Juventus really wanted to they could totally dictate a game like this. Once in a while they show off that they are capable of doing this, but far too seldom I think personally. Controlling the game more would not give the opposition valuable time to defend and score goals. I think this was clearly a problem shown against Shakthar. The Ukrainians has plenty of offensive talent, and given time on the ball they will unlock defences, even world class ones like the one of Juventus. 

NORDSJAELLAND V JUVENTUS PREDICTIONS: 1X2 BETTING PREVIEW

Even if Juventus will give plenty of possession time to Nordsjaelland the Italian side should prevail. Nordsjaelland is by no means a bad football side. That said, I don't think they have enough quality to give Juventus the same sort of problems that Shakthar Donetsk did. As mentioned; Nordsjaelland must take their time and go at it when, and only when they got the chance to create real danger. If they insist on rushing forward Juventus coach Conte will show them the effectiveness of his relatively wide formation. Should Juventus have learned from the Shakthar game and just go out totally dominating affairs on the pitch, this will be very one sided and it could end ugly for Nordsjaelland. Because of this I am fairly okay with the 1.36 odds offered by Betfair.

NORDSJAELLAND - JUVENTUS PREDICTIONS: ASIAN HANDICAP PREVIEW

I think Nordsjaelland loves playing football a wee bit too much for their own good here. Their footballing skills are excellent comparing to a Scandinavian level, but let’s be fair. Juventus are miles ahead of that level. This will give Juventus plenty of chances to go on the break if the home side isn’t being careful. Even if Nordsjaelland should get an early goal, Juventus has more than plenty of firepower to turn the tide and grab some goals on their own. I am considering the 0.75, 1 and 1.25 Asian Handicap. I end up at the -1.25 Asian Handicap line. Mainly because no matter if Juventus will go for blistering attacks on the break or possession domination they got so much skill in their squad compared to Nordsjaelland. This should translate to a comfortable win once the 90 minutes are over.

NORDSJAELLAND - JUVENTUS PREDICTIONS: TOTAL GOALS PREVIEW

Given the statistics it looks very much like an over game. I am however not jumping on the bandwagon without further analysis. I believe it’s a good chance that Nordsjaelland will have 45%+ of the possession and since Nordsjaelland are poor at converting at this level, and a tough Juventus defence is going to deny them opportunities as best they can: I am fairly sure a maximum of one goal can be made in 45% of the total game time. The rest will be up to Juventus on the night. This certainly reduce the clear value that the betting stats indicate. Looking at the odds in the market I think there still is some value left in the 1.88 offered by Ladbrokes on the over 2.5 goals line. I was expecting the odds to be lower.
