PARTIZAN BEOGRAD – SHIRAK: PREDICTIONS

After a surprise 1-1 draw in Armenia, Shirak take to the pitch at Partizan Stadium to try and stay in the tie.

Partizan Beograd are one of the most famous clubs to come out of the old Yugoslavia. With 19 Yugoslavian titles and the last 6 Serbian league titles they are the best side at present. In Europe they have a long history with 206 games, boasting 78 wins, 42 draws and 86 wins they have got as far as a Champions League runners up medal.  Partizan regularly progress in Europe and are group participants in both UEFA competitions in recent years. In the 1^st leg Partizan were strangely subdued for long periods of the game. Having to rely on a stoppage time equaliser to get anything from the game.

Shirak of Gyumri are not the usual winners from Armenia, but gladly take their place in Champions League. The team has won the title 4 times but before last season had not taken it since 1999. The side has been particularly poor on the European stage. In 25 ties they have 4 wins, 6 draws and 15 defeats. They have only progressed through ties on three occasions which is not great.
