Porto v Basel is a Champions League tie that perhaps isn't the most mouthwatering in terms of expected TV entertainment, but for betting it could very well be a winner! Here is my betting prediction:

I try to steer clear of goals bets as I think they are more difficult to predict than asian handicap winners. They can be more prone to fall apart as tips with early  mistakes or hapless decisions. Here though I take this as I have full confidence with Porto’s game management. The 1^st leg was 1-1 in Basel but the scoreline doesn’t reflect on the game which Porto totally dominated.  With a 0-0 enough for the home side to qualify I see them being very patient indeed and taking no chances. Its down to Basel to force the play and I don’t see them doing that either until the 2^nd half.  A great play here for me is 1^st half draw at 11-8 with bet365. However my main bet here will be under 2.5 goals.  In both sides 16 champions league games so far there has been 44 goals at a 2.75 goals per game – that seems high but does include a 6-0 win for Porto against a hapless BATE side and a 5-1 loss for Basel against Real Madrid. Take them two results out and the average drops to 2.28 goals per game. In the 16 UCL games so far under 2.50 has collected in 10 of the 16 games.

This game is going to be tight as anything and will only open up in the latter stages. I think the under 2.5 is a great bet and is my bet of the day.
