Qarabag of Azerbaijan have really improved over the last few years and are a side I generally look out for. They won the title last year to make it three titles (the last two consecutive) In Europe they have played 54 times, with 20 wins, 14 draws and 20 defeats. Not many sides who come into the competition at this stage have anything near a plus win ratio so that’s good for them. In recent years they have regularly qualified through the early rounds – knocking out the likes of Rosenborg (Nor) Wisla Krakow (Pol), Twente (Neth) and Gefle (Swe) – even last year they made the Group stages of Europa. Going well in a tough group of Inter, St Etienne and Dnipro. They host Montengrins Rudar of Pljevja. They have taken the league on 2 occasions. In Europe they have played 14 ties with 3 wins, 2 draws and 9 losses. In truth they have only qualified through Tre Fiori (San Marino) and Mika (Armenia)
Although these sides are closely ranked internationally there is a big difference domestically. The Azeri side have plenty of dollars and can attract a decent level of foreign talent. I take them to overcome the 1.5 handicap. We need a 2 goal win for payout here and as my bet of the day.
