SCHALKE v BASEL: HALFTIME-FULLTIME BETTING TIPS AND PREDICTIONS

Schalke go into this game knowing only a win is good enough to take them into the knockout stages. They sit in 3^rd position in the Group with 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats. Schalke beat Basel 1-0 in Switzerland but find themselves in a one off game knockout to stay in the competition.   Basel are in the driving seat as they know a draw is good enough and will try and dictate the tempo. Basel are in this position thanks to two excellent wins against group leaders Chelsea. Amazingly they have not won another game in the group – drawing twice to Steaua and losing to Schalke.

This will be a tight game as both sides know their game plans and will be cautious early on. I think Schalke will take the win in a low scoring game that may to kick in to life until the 2^nd half. Basel will be trying to stifle Schalke and will know if they can get deep into the 2^nd half at a draw then they have a chance. My view here is that the crowd will roar Schalke on and with relentless pressure on the Basel goal the home side will sneak a win 2^nd half and then hold on as Basel will then be forced to play.
