Schalke v Chelsea predictions
Schalke now has three wins on the trot in all competitions. Last match day in the Champions League they won a hard fought battle against Basel away from home. Schalke will still be missing Huntelaar and Farfan, two of their best attacking players. That said, Szalai, Draxler and 18 years old Meyer has been doing really good up front. Keeper Hildebrand, Boateng (Attacking Midfielder) and Jones (midfielder) could return, but remain doubts. I have a hard time seeing all three being fit at least. Papadopoulos (Central Defender) is definitely still out too. On paper, they got big injury problems, but the squad depth is good, and the players coming in have been very good. Are they good enough at Champions League level though against a top drawer side? That’s the real question!
Chelsea is also coming into this Champions League tie with three wins in a row in all competitions. After starting the season slightly slow; Chelsea now has found goal scoring form. They have scored eleven goals in their last three games, conceding only two. Schurrle (Attacking Midfielder), Cole (Left back) and Van Ginkel (Box to box midfielder) are the players out.
Schalke vs Chelsea betting tips
This Schalke side is probably slightly weaker than the side that played Arsenal for a 2-2 draw last Champions League season (due to injuries mainly). They’ve been good against the likes of Braunschweig and Augsburg but this Chelsea side is a few notches above that opposition. That combined with Chelsea’s good form in front of goal lately and the tactical skills of Mourinho tweaks this into an away win for me.

All though this is Champions League and a more cagey game is to be expected both sides have been really good at attacking lately. My take on this game is that Chelsea will score, and this will force Schalke to play more on their strength; attack, than they perhaps initially planned. That should yield some goals.

Eden Hazard has been in good form recently. With Schurrle out, he is likely to be involved even more offensively. His speed and counter attack skills will be very visible against a free flowing Schalke. To price him to score any time at 7 times the money is almost criminal.
